About
Me
My name is Sam Scholten, I'm a physics postdoc in Australia.
I did my MSc and PhD under Jean-Philippe Tetienne and David Simpson at the University of Melbourne & RMIT University. I largely studied optical spin defect physics, both development and application of the established NV-diamond system, and more basic research of new spin defects in hexagonal boron nitride.
You can find my thesis here.
I will be moving to Brisbane soon to try my hand at some optomechanics and hopefully learn a bunch.
I have previously blogged a little at defective.club.
As an aside, you can find all of my papers on the arXiv, or you can email me & I'll be very happy to share.
This blog
This blog is primarily for me to have a place to order my thoughts, particularly as I move & tackle some new physics. Perhaps some things I learn will be useful to someone else along the way. However I will be restricting myself to a mataroa blog, with its paltry customisation and visualisation features, partly so that I do not spend a lot of time making posts overly pedagogical with lots of nice diagrams. This blog will be scriptural, makeshift, and profuse.
